Kitchen Table Money (kitchentablemoneyo.com) is a free educational site. We built it to collect as little as possible.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no sign-up, and no payments.
- No advertising, no tracking pixels and no selling of data.
- We never ask for, and you should never enter, bank or brokerage logins, account numbers, passwords or Social Security numbers.
The AI money helper
When you send a question, your message, the recent conversation, and any budget numbers you typed are sent through our server to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, to write the answer. Our server does not save your questions or answers. Anthropic handles that data under its own commercial terms and privacy policy, available at anthropic.com.
Numbers you type on the page
The budget numbers in "Your numbers" are saved only in your own browser, so they're there when you come back. You can clear them by deleting the site's data in your browser settings.
Private Budget
Everything you enter in the budget app (bills, cards, loans, balances and spending) is saved only in your own browser on that device. It is not sent to our server, with one exception you control: if you turn on "Use AI for smarter answers" in the advisor, each question you ask sends a summary of your numbers (totals, budgets, account names without numbers, balances, interest rates and top spending) through our server to our AI provider, Anthropic, to write the answer. We don't store it, and the switch stays off until you turn it on. If you pair two devices, they connect directly to each other, not through us. Use the app's "Your data" section to make a backup, because clearing your browser data erases it.
The other apps
Option Check, Crypto Check and Company Report fetch public market prices. Stock data comes through our server from Yahoo Finance. Crypto Check connects your browser directly to Coinbase or Kraken for live prices, so those companies see a normal connection from your device. The apps never connect to your brokerage account.
Technical information
Our hosting provider (Render) keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to run and protect the service. We use your IP address briefly, in memory only, to limit how many requests one visitor can make, then discard it.
Children
The site is meant for adults 18 and older.
